Malnutrition is a general term for the medical condition caused by an improper or insufficient diet.
It most often refers to under-nutrition resulting from inadequate consumption, poor absorption, or excessive loss of nutrients, but the term can also encompass over-nutrition, resulting from overeating or excessive intake of specific nutrients.
- Under-nutrition in third world countries.
- Over-nutrition in developed countries that link to obesity, diabetes, and cardio vascular diseases.
Young children are more vulnerable as they are growing, and building their body.
But it is possible to be overweight and having a lack of some essential nutrients (fatty acid, minerals and vitamins), and obesity is just a signal of an inadequate diet.
